What Is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a series of clear aligners that are easily removable for total patient freedom and comfort. A new set of aligners is given to Invisalign patients every two weeks throughout treatment, and they will each be slightly adjusted to move your teeth closer to the projected results. Invisalign is printed in a super comfortable plastic that allows patients to enjoy treatment without even being aware they are wearing the aligners most of the time. Patients young and old appreciate how easy it is to remove their aligners for things such as eating and playing sports, but it’s important to keep them in for at least 20 to 22 hours, so there is no unwanted shifting that slows progress.
How Do I Care for My Invisalign?
Caring for Invisalign is incredibly simple, and even kids can do it. It adds just one more step to your dental hygiene routine. All you have to do is use warm water and a toothbrush to clean the inside and outside of your aligners whenever you remove them to brush and floss your teeth. You wouldn’t want to put harmful bacteria back on teeth you just brushed, so it’s important to thoroughly clean the aligners each time. The sleek plastic used makes it easy to clean, and you don’t have the added stress of trying to maneuver around metal wires and brackets.
What Is the Treatment Process?
The treatment process always begins with a comprehensive exam during your first complimentary visit. This exam allows our doctors to better understand your orthodontic needs and allows you to express your concerns and expectations for treatment.
Next, we will take a 3D image of your teeth, mouth, and jaw so that we can build a customized treatment plan and print a pair of aligners that will fit snugly on your teeth to eliminate rubbing and irritation. We will also use this 3D image to show you a projection of your desired results so that we both understand the treatment goals. After your initial set of aligners are printed, you will receive a new set every two weeks until you complete your life-changing treatment.
How Much Does Invisalign Cost?
The cost of Invisalign varies based on a variety of factors, such as time spent in treatment and the severity of your problem areas. The longer you spend in treatment, the more it will cost. However, we have several processes in place to help mitigate the price of Invisalign and make you feel more comfortable with your investment. We partner with many insurance providers to minimize out-of-pocket fees and have created several flexible financing plans to help Invisalign work with your budget.
How Will Invisalign Affect My Lifestyle?
One of the greatest benefits of Invisalign is the freedom it allows patients. This treatment is flexible to your lifestyle and shouldn’t have any impact on your life besides creating an amazing smile.
How Long Do I Have to Wear My Aligners for Each Day?
We want your treatment to be as efficient as possible. For you to have the best results within the expected timeline, it’s important you wear your aligners for at least 20 to 22 hours a day.
This gives you enough time to take them out for pictures or to eat while still providing consistent pressure to your teeth. If you leave your aligners out for too long, they will begin to shift back to their original position, and it will erase your progress.
What Can I Eat With Invisalign?
There are no dietary restrictions with Invisalign. Unlike with braces, there are no wires or brackets to damage with hard or sticky foods. You can remove your aligners for a meal or snack and eat whatever you want. This all contributes to Invisalign’s reputation for flexibility and empowering wearers to continue living their normal lifestyle even while in treatment.
Do I Still Need to See My Dentist While Wearing Invisalign?
It’s crucial to your treatment progress that you continue seeing your dentist throughout your time in Invisalign. Orthodontists and dentists specialize in different areas of your oral health, and both are essential to achieve your dream smile. To maintain your good dental hygiene, continue attending your regularly scheduled cleanings and check-ups.
